Terms & Refunds

Effective date: June 11, 2026.

These terms are an agreement between you and Rex Jones, doing business as Luxii ("Luxii," "we," "us"). They cover the Luxii plugin for Adobe Lightroom Classic, the hosted AI service at luxii.app, and image credits. By purchasing a license, activating the plugin, or using the free trial, you're agreeing to them.

Luxii is built and run by a working photographer, so these terms are written the way I'd want to read them: short, plain, and honest about what you're buying. Where lawyers would write three paragraphs, I've tried to write one.

The Service

Luxii is two things sold together:

  • The software. A plugin for Adobe Lightroom Classic that uses AI to write IPTC metadata — 19 fields including title, headline, caption, alt text, and keywords — directly into your catalog.
  • The hosted AI service. When you run an analysis, the plugin sends the rendered frame to our servers, which analyze it and return the metadata. The AI is built in — no API key, no separate AI account. Analysis is metered in image credits attached to your license.

Luxii runs on macOS today, with Windows support coming shortly. You need your own copy of Adobe Lightroom Classic — Luxii is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Adobe.

Your License

The $39 one-time purchase buys you a perpetual license to the plugin, plus 500 image credits to start. No subscription. Nothing recurring. Specifically:

  • One license, one person. Your license is for you, not your studio, agency, or workshop class. If a second photographer wants Luxii, they need their own license.
  • Up to 3 machines at once. Desktop, laptop, studio machine — activate on up to three computers simultaneously.
  • Seats free themselves. If a machine hasn't used Luxii in 30 days, that seat is released automatically. Replaced your laptop? Nothing to email us about — the old seat clears on its own.
  • Don't share or resell keys. If a license key is being shared or sold, we can suspend it. If something looks off, we'll email you first — most of the time it's a misunderstanding, not a crime ring.

Credits

Credits are how hosted analysis is metered. The rules:

  • One credit per analyzed image. Re-analyzing the same photo uses another credit.
  • Credits never expire. Shoot heavy in senior season, go quiet in January — your credits will be there in the spring.
  • Credits are tied to your license and non-transferable. They can't be sold, gifted, or moved to another license, and they have no cash value — they're only redeemable for analysis.
  • Top-up packs: $15 for 1,000 images, $25 for 2,000, $45 for 5,000.
  • The free trial doesn't touch credits. Your first 25 images are free, no card required, and don't count against anything.
  • Bring-your-own-key analysis consumes no credits (see below).

Acceptable Use

Use Luxii to tag your photography. Don't use it to:

  • Analyze illegal content, or content you don't have the right to possess or process.
  • Abuse the API. No circumventing credit metering, no scraping or probing the hosted endpoints, no reselling access to the analysis service, and no wiring Luxii up as the backend of your own product or service.

To be clear about volume: bulk-tagging an entire catalog of your own work is exactly what Luxii is for — that's normal use, not abuse. Abuse is using the service as something other than a photographer's tagging tool.

We can suspend licenses that violate this section. Except in egregious cases, we'll contact you before doing anything permanent.

Bring Your Own Key

If you already have your own Anthropic API key, there's an option in Settings to use it. When you do:

  • Analysis bills directly to your Anthropic account and consumes no Luxii credits.
  • Your key stays on your machine. It is never sent to our servers and never stored by us.
  • That usage is governed by Anthropic's own terms and pricing, which we don't control — we can't warrant their availability or rates.

Most people should ignore this section. The built-in service exists so you never have to think about API keys.

Availability

Hosted analysis depends on our servers and on Anthropic's Claude API. We work to keep everything running, but Luxii is a small operation and we don't guarantee uninterrupted uptime. The service is provided "as available."

Two things that hold even during an outage: metadata Luxii has already written lives in your Lightroom catalog and stays there no matter what happens to our servers, and the bring-your-own-key option works independently of our hosted service.

If we ever permanently shut down the hosted service, we'll give license holders reasonable advance notice and refund unused purchased credits at the rate you paid for them.

Limitation of Liability

In plain English: if something goes wrong, the most we owe you is the amount you paid us.

The software and service are provided "as is." Luxii is built carefully — it writes through Lightroom's own catalog APIs, it's develop-safe, and it never runs "Read Metadata from File" — but no software is perfect, and you should keep backing up your catalog the way you already do (right?).

To the maximum extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages — lost profits, lost bookings, lost data, or the like — and our total liability for any claim is capped at what you've paid Luxii in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, in which case these apply to the fullest extent permitted.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, the new version goes up on this page with a new effective date, and material changes get announced by email to license holders.

One promise that doesn't change: what you bought stays bought. We won't retroactively expire credits, and we won't convert your one-time license into a subscription. Continued use of Luxii after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms; if you don't, stop using the service and contact us.

Refund Policy

The first 25 images are free with no card required, so you can find out whether Luxii fits your workflow before paying anything. If you buy and it still isn't for you:

  • The $39 license: 14-day money-back guarantee, any reason. Email us within 14 days of purchase and we'll refund it. If you've used more than the 500 credits included with the license, the overage is deducted at the smallest-pack rate — $15 per 1,000 images, or 1.5 cents each. The 25 free trial images never count.
  • Credit packs: refundable within 14 days if unused. If no credits from a pack have been consumed, we'll refund it within 14 days of purchase. Once a pack has been dipped into, it isn't refundable — but remember, credits never expire, so they're never wasted.

How to request one: email info@rexjones.photo from the address you purchased with and include your order number or license key. Refunds go back to the original payment method — we process them within a few business days, and your card company may take a few more to show it.
